I’m just trying to get help identifying my rifle, I had obtained it from a friend that didn’t have any idea of what it actually was. Any and all help would be appreciated. I’ve found some posts and forums that give marking ideas etc but nothing really comparable to what this has on it.

bibbs sported rifles , the markings we would need for origin if they remain , should be on the wrist right side under the bolt handle , that should - if not scrubbed , provide the date and location of mfgr

Can you post a picture of the full rifle. Also a photo of the left flat side of the receiver and left wrist where the butt stock fits into the action body. With that, we will be able to identify where it was made and likely when. It is a No. 4 Mk I Lee Enfield.
Looks like it has a full length barrel, not cut short.

The magazine, although not original is worth a premium over those that are. |

Yes, it is. When I saw the first photos which showed the front sight, I thought the barrel had not been shortened. Not sure why anyone would want to cut that bit off…

I think its a savage No4 Mk1*? Or was, before it was cut down to resemble a hunting rifle (look at the bolt head closeup & the "reinforcement square section" just below it.) & the cut in the side rail to allow the bolt to be removed. That's a fairly unique Savage Feature. Does the serial number have a letter "C" in it? like this ##C#### It would have looked like this before it was modified. |

I don’t really see the Mk 1* slot cut into the bolt head track/rail?
Looks like some things missing, like bolt safety catch, extractor screw, bolt release catch. But photo is pretty grainy. A close up photo of left side of receiver will help.

This is the OP's rifle showing the raceway. Unless it is an early S or LB manufactured Enfield, it from one of the British factories. Nice to see a #0 bolthead though...

Easy to tell. slip a cleaning rod in an EMPTY UNLOADED barrel with the bolt closed, mark rod & measure form bolt face to muzzle!

The muzzle end of the barrel has been cutdown just past the bayonet lugs.
