I had purchased a No4 Mk1 Sporter for a very reasonable price. I now now why. Over the winter I installed a walnut cheek piece and an Addley scope mount to which I attached an old Weaver 4x I had kicking around. This spring, after various load testing, and thru discussions here, I believe the bore is worn. I was going to keep it as a parts rifle, but then got to thinking. If I bobbed the barrel to 21 or 22", and hopefully get it to shoot 4 or 5" MOA, it would be a cool bush buster! Now the part that may turn some stomachs. In the past, I have cammo painted several people rifles and shotguns. I took the furniture of the above mentioned No4 this weekend and cammoed it. Since I had already painted the barrel/action OD, I must admit it looks pretty good! And it can be brought back to the Sorter wood. Next time I have someone over with a camera, I'll get a few pics.
