An old newbie here with an old Sht LE. I've used this rifle for 40 years and never looked into the history of this rifle to any great  length until now. I hope to glean some info from somebodies noggin about this $25 special. Yes, that's what I paid for it in 1979. Got my first deer with it that same year. At the time it was very accurate out to 50yds. After that you had to look very hard to find a hole on a target. I had shot at a deer that was out about 125 yds. The shot hit 2 ft above it's back into a tree, not once but 3 times. I watched the snow shake off the limb each time I hit it. I was younger and more thickheaded then. Once I figured out that the sights were set up just a tad high, I was able to regain center. I have since put plenty of meat on the table with that rifle and anything I hit was recovered. I only had 1 deer that needed to be tracked for about a mile, but it was a surprise off the hip shot at close range. I aim better now. No more long drags for me. At 72 I'd like my deer to drop about 10 ft. from the truck please. I am looking forward to reading about other hunters experiences via this forum and their use of the Enfield. FWIW I'm also into McCulloch chainsaws from the 60's and 70's, enjoy afternoons on the lake with my fishing partner, AKA Wife and spend time on the golf courses in our area. Be talking to you.

Welcome from ATL, Georgia.

I grew up on the other side of your Northern boarder.  Up there, there were plenty of LEs, maybe even the most common sporter.   Yes, these rifles were cheap an plentiful at one time.  Those days are long gone.

Glad to have you aboard.

Welcome to the forum from Alberta, Canada!
I have taken all of my big game with the .303 British cartridge and two of them with my Lee Enfield and I hope to put two more notches on the it so to speak this season.
The Lee Enfield is to the Canadian north what the Winchester repeater was to the American west.   Cal Bablitz
