Buddy dropped off an old Savage 99 in .243 he wanted me to work on. Took the stock(s) off, cleaned up the action and bore. Removed the old doeve tail rear site, installed a Skinner dovetail peep site, removed the two scope mounts and plugged, and installed a couple of period correct sling swivels. Had to use my jig to drill the holes. Someone had put a shiny finish, probably Birchwood Casey. I knocked the shine of it with Xxxx steel wool. Pretty nice looking bush rifle now!

I braved the heat 100+ F and went to the range almost empty but my fellow rifle shooter had been on the U.S. Palma team several times and has shot at Bisley and is interested in my collecting, We did fire a few shots down range to break up our conversation

Either of those options would have been more enjoyable than my 14 hours of mowing. Having a huge area to mow is okay until the riding mower breaks down. Well, at least I got my exercise in

My thoughts exactly, Hoadie!
Plant a patch of mint as well, Bear, to make the mint sauce to go with the leg of lamb!

I guess that picture answers my question of "what lonely shepherders do while tending the flock."

no to sheep - they eat the roots - you end up with dirt , get a cow or two , they mow it real nice , and they eat real fine as well , just constraint you have to worry on , close the gate your good to go , i like beef better , clean just like the deer ya know ............just sayin ,

Again..problem solved. Sheep eat the roots, ya get dirt (ya don't mow dirt) Then ya eat the sheep, plant veggies. (Ya don't mow them) eat the veggies. When the grass creeps back, go to sheep. The cycle begins again!
