Ive been looking for a bayonet for my lithgow MKIII*

Ive seen some with the little oil hole rear of handle, and some without.

is there a difference between MKIII and MKIII* bayonets?

No difference.  The clean out hole was added early on, about the same time the Mk III came out and before the Mk III*.  Bayonets without are scarce.

there is a bunch of the 'non-hole' ones that started life as 'hooked quillon' and had the hook cut off , these are no diferent but fun to have in your collection of blades - if your into them as much as the rifles
