Anyone have any minus height front sight blades for sale?  Seems all the ones I have are + heights.

There is a gentleman on eBay that has a bunch of  0  -.015  .-035 sight blades. I had an old Buffalo Scout Revolver that had a pressed in place post front sight and a V notch in the hammer rear sight. Couldn't hit a damn thing with it. Until my dad handed me an ignition file and a honing stone telling me to file the front sight down in increments until I hit what I was aiming at. If it was me and i did not want to spend 5-15 dollars on ePay and then wait the days it takes for the part to show up, I would file the blade down until I got the rifle hitting where I aimed it at.

I can file it down some, but the height of the LE front sight blades above the rectangular dovetailed base are all the same, it’s the base that are different heights.  Right now, it has a + 0.090 blade, based on the rear sight position, I need to remove at least 0.10 inches.  So I’ll need a minus front sight.

I have two blades. .075, and .045.
That is a minus difference of .015 and .045 respectively of your .090 sight. Based off of just that alone and your statement that you would need to remove at least .010" of material? You could start off with a sight that is already .015" shorter in height then your .090" sight and see where that puts you in relationship to the rear sight position.  I checked the height of both sights from the top of the base to the top of the blade. It measured in at 0.115". You could file off 0.100" from the top of the blade down and still have a usable sight in a worst case scenario.

Either or.I have a solution to your problem.  Give it a think...

Thanks Goosic.  I’ll look thru my front sights, I think the shortest one I have is +0.015.  That would reduce the rear sight setting by 0.075.  I was hoping to find some minus front sights.

This is one of the reasons why I want a custom foresight base.

Hi Britrifles

Are you still after a ‘-‘ sight blade?

If so what size and is it a solid or split base?
