I'll most definitely let you know how the front pad replacement works out... I've yet to take it to the range, so I'm kinda curious also. Kysusha~ Thanks for the help on the woodwork.... I'm gonna be on that hopefully in a day or so. Best I've got right now is a 1907 sling inbound... as that old web one just had to go. Stay tuned! |

Nothing wrong with the web sling.
I use all three issue slings and like the softer web.

The British did use the round type cocking peices on the very early No4's I believe.
I have never seen one . I dont think too many made it to Australia as we never adopted the No4 as a service rifle.
Seen a few smooth sided cocking pieces tho.

The round cocking piece can be found on any early No4 rifle. It is designated the MkI and is the first of five variations of the cocking piece used on the No4. This is well documented by Stratton and Skennerton publications. It does seem to be more commonly seen on North American made rifles. |
