Hi all,
Need some expert opinions here.
Recently acquired my first Lee Enfield  from a friend.
Its s Savage built No4 Mk1*.
Its in nice shape and an accurate shooter.
Its U.S. Property marked.
The bolt, reciever,  and front wood are all serial number matched.
All the other parts that are marked have a square S or square S in a box .
There are no import, FTR, or foreign service marks on this rifle.
My question is: What is the significance of the little pinhole with possibly a small pin in the reciever wrist under the serial number?
My experience with Lee Enfields is admittedly limited but I have not seen this before.
Your opinions are appreciated.
Note: Having difficulty posting pics.
Will keep trying .

Howdy from Phoenix Arizona.
Without pictures it is very difficult to access what it is you are describing. My initial thought is you are describing where the rear trigger guard screw is located because if you have an additional hole in that wristsocket,  you might something else going on...

Thanks for the reply.
No it's not the trigger screw.
Its higher up on the wrist, almost the center.
About 0.090" diameter.
Still trying to load pics.
Maybe because I'm new here

Upon closer inspection it appears to be an oddly struck flaming bomb.
Still can't upload pictures

I think you will find that it is a poorly stamped US 'flaming bomb' proofmark.

I believe there's a minimum post count to upload. 20 or 30 meaningful posts.
Sorry but without this we get massive spamming so we had to have a probationary period.

Mine is poorly struck as well. Top left is great, bottom right not so much.

Nice. Mine has a second one on the socket. It's a bit different "font?" than others I have seen on these. Strange.
