I accidentally bought a 2 groove barrel off eBay the other day. By accidentally,  I mean that, it had a best offer and I did submit my offer. Typically you wait to see if it gets accepted or rejected.  Minutes later it said my card was automatically charged for the part. It will be here in a couple of days. As soon as it gets here, I will give it a good once over and then, if it's good to go, offer it up to one of you guys for what I paid for it...

I have to check this one out before I do anything else. It also has part of the reciever still attached to it as well...

No problem removing or installing it on my end.
Done a bunch of them.
If you want to keep it or someone else needs/wants it that ok by me too.
Thanks for offering your thoughts on it as well.

I got the barrel today. Removed what was left of the reciever and gave it a cursory once over.  It is a 2 groove barrel that has been Draw Lapped, (D inside a Circle on the knox form.) I found a LB stamp on the bottom of the barrel as well. The serial number however is a Fazackerly number, S26928A. So, there's that.
The rifling itself appears to be between Good and Good+. I'm still cleaning it and will post pictures as soon as I can...

Interested to see pics. What is Draw Lapped? Not familiar with that term.

The short answer is that, after the initial rifling was completed, a "button" with some type of burnishing compound on it was pushed through from the muzzle end until it popped out the other side...

There is one on eBay right now. Just type Enfield Barrel in the search box. The guy wants $199.95 for it. I have dealt with this person before and have not had an issue. It might seem fairly expensive for a used barrel but it is a starting point...

in the case of that particular barrel at 200.00 dollars if you pony up that much for a used barrel you might as well go all in and buy a new one.  its not a Barret Jackson item by any means.

The last barrel I purchased from the guy ended up on a Maltby reciever.  It produces sub-moa groups so I figure the money was well spent. The issue with the Criterion and Lothar barrels from me is that they come to you short chambered,  leaving you or your chosen gunsmith to do the finish reaming which adds to the total out of pocket costs...

that is true but you then have the ability to customize the chamber if one wanted too.   chamber reaming really is not that big of job as a machinist myself in my view anyway,  but there are those whom i expect think they are providing some kind of mystical archaic service and so inflate the value.  but that is i guess the sign of the times in which we live where we charge outta sight for things as if one were building from scratch a top notch English double rifle with the name to go with.
