Brand new to the forum. Also a member of British Militaria forum.

Long time collector of military firearms dating back to the American Civil War. I have a special love for British weapons and a decent collection of Enfields.

I recently acquired a Long Lee and need front sight blade and a shim from the magazine cutoff that needs to be replaced for the cutoff to work as it should.

Anyone have a source or know someone??

I can't help with the part search, but I wanted to welcome you to the forum. Also, I'm going to bother you for pictures of your Long Lee. We love pictures! Big smile

Hi and Thanks! I'll post some pics later when I get a new, working, digital camera!! (I'm old school...if it doesn't have a trigger it easily confuses me!)

Pulling the trigger was the most technical thing I learned in the Marine Corps!

Thank for your Service to the Corps and the Nation.

Long Lee parts are as rare as a Smiling Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Sometimes you get lucky on Ebay.

Check with Gun Parts Corp.

The magazine cut-off does not have a "shim".   The underside of the cutoff does have a small raised platform machined in place that helps to lock the cut-off open, but there is no separate part.

The magazine cut-off consists of two parts only, the cutoff itself and the screw that affixes the cut-off in place.

Get one of your kids to take a picture with THEIR phone and email it to you.  You can then post it here.

I suggest finding something close and file it to fit.

Hey! Thank you for this! I will do as you say and "file to fit".

May I ask...what book is pictured?

British Enfield Rifles by Skip Stratton.  There are two volumes - you want the one with the BLUE cover.

Out of print, but you can usually find one on Amazon or any of the used book sellers.

Ian Skennerton (from Australia - http://www.skennerton.com/) also has a large volume of Lee Enfield books (and many others) as well. Many are out of print but you can find the odd one on Ebay or Amazon as someone also mentioned in a previous post.

I believe that Volume 3 was intended to be on the 'Long Lee' rifle family.  Unfortunately, Skip died unexpectedly and the work was never completed.

Do not despair!  Lance Lysiuk is considering doing a book on M.L.E.s and C.L.L.E.s
