I had a Lithgow built for my a while ago. It was an adventure, believe me. Anyways, I was putting another coat of oil on the furniture today and noticed something odd. I've refinished many wood rifle stocks, (usually for family and friends and usually for free!) The butt stock shows the expected signs and patina of a 100 year old rifle... but the rest? Pristine! Not a mark and the edges of the upper and lower furniture look like fresh clean cuts. Even the holes underneath for screws have no wear on the edge. I wonder if it may be some of that furniture that Mr. Shaw made? The bloke that built me the rifle also lives in Canada.

Your builder may have simply "salted away" a bunch of new parts. Just a few years ago you could but SMLE furniture bits & pieces for a song.
I'd guess Ralph Shaw ID' his work somehow?
