It's the time of year when hunters throw their names into a hat to see who gets to fill their freezers with elk, moose, sheep, mule deer and pronghorn this fall.
The draw application period in Alberta opened two days ago. Yesterday I applied for some, hoping for an elk tag. What are the other hunters on here doing?

Spring hunt mule deer for me. I'll find out in another month if I was drawn.

Black bear season ends here in BC June 15th. No bear meat in the freezer yet but we are trying. Deer opens Sept.15th so there is long wait until hunting season again. That's when I go fishing or gold panning.

We applied for our antlerless(deer) tags back in March. Bought my fall bear tag @ same time. Bear can start sept till end Nov. Deer (rifle) is first two full weeks Nov. But now that we all have bows as well, that opens up a whole new hunt season!
My hunt pard of 34 yrs passed last year. Wasn't the same hunt. Still have to dispose of his firearms & crossbow for his widow.

In Manitoba, I think there was a spring bear hunt. Ive never hunted them so I have to wait for fall for big game. Whitetail deer. I did get drawn for elk two years ago. I was hunting in an area that I now now is prime road hunting for poachers. There were so many vehicles just driving around with guys wearing orange. And Game Wardens galore! I actually told the guy I was hunting with that I would only hunt on the half section we had permission on. It was a very disappointing hunt...

Here the deer applications opened up last Monday. We have several seasons. I applied for an Any Deer license for the East River deer season and an Any Whitetail and Antlerless Whitetail license for West River deer season. I will get a doe tag for muzzleloader season later this fall as well.
