Last weekend I entered a competition with the No8 .22 trainer; and got 3rd place in class and top of our club member's.

As some of you may know. I recently added a scope to one of my No8 rifles. The competition was a bench rest type for local gun clubs (County level).
Two classes, 1 for full Bench rifles using the full rigs and wind vanes etc and a leisure rifle class, which allows only front bipod or sand bag.
I entered the No8 in the leisure rifle class; using a homemade bag for front support. (6 pack cooler bag full of sand). Most of the other competitors using modern .22's such as the CZ's.

This was my first competition of this type. When I took the rifle out of the case; one of our club members asked why I wasn't using my CZ 455 (heavy barelled) rifle. So I explain that it's more fun to shoot a 70 year old rifle against the new stuff. Look of confusion and probably thought I was mad!

I was hoping to at least get in the top half of the results. However the old girl did well!
192/200 on the first card and 195/200 on the second card.
My points score equalled that of the second place guy, but I had less "mouche" (centre dot) so ended up third.

The winner scored 196/200 on both cards. He was using a CZ 455 with a x24 scope.

I'd say you both acquitted your selves excellently.

Thanks guys;I was very pleased with the result. Better than expected actually.

The first card shot was in the morning, the 2nd was after lunch. So I went and weighed the ammo for the second round. I found 0.3 grain error over the box, so selected similar weights for the 2nd card.
I think that helped get the extra few points.
Round 2 will be in November so I think I'll have to get some practice in.
Since getting the provisional results on Sunday night; they've now added results form another club's shoot; which dropped me to 5th for the combined events.

Thanks to Goosic for supplying the scope mount for this project. It's turned out really well.
