In Canada, we have a Charter of Freedoms and Rights... it includes freedom of speech. This freedom is now longer free, as liberal governments have added more and more things you cannot talk about or risk persecution and prosecution. In my mind, it has made our country weaker. I call it a "Nanny State". Makes me disgusted, but I foresee this as only getting worse.

this has been incrementally happening as the commies have found their ways to ban certain speech , books , thinking here , they would love to control it all but they are using what they have at hand - its funny that they say some of the most outrageous things and try to twist things out of reality and we [the other side] seem not to go after theirs using their own logic , but then that would feed the frenzy so to speak , we do need to strike back and turn this around before we become nazi germany in the thirty's - we are headed that way right now ,

Freedom of speech is vitally important. Many people have tried to suppress it.
If France some people got upset about Charlie Hebdo publising jokes; and it turned into the terror attacks
casuing many deaths. But the gouvernment backed the right to publish.
But publishing a (good) bad joke should not end in violence.
The attack on freedom of speech can come from any source; religious or political.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

The biggest mistake made in this country was to turn the education system over to the leftists.  The colleges are run by socialists who have reprogrammed our young.  Now generations have grown up with the leftists and socialists with one primary objective, to silence any other view.  I worry for our future.

this is the absolute most important point.  they started in the 1950's.  this is why I think tenure in education should be abolished.  you cannot get rid of activist educators.

As much as I had to say, Canada is beyond repair.
I remember my father saying to me once back in the 70`s, that my generation may very well be the last free citizens in this country, make good choices and hopefully your children will live as you do.
My two daughters are living in fear of the future, its a sad way to live, and my grand kids........

Hope springs eternal, so does the flame of our forefathers who fought for our countries. I pray that this situation rights itself but I also fear it will take more fighting. God help us.....please!

I`m a strong believer that if we Canadians would quit being such pussy`s and just push back hard when our elected morons push crap down our throats, this country would be a lot different.
But unfortunately yrs and decades of rolling over and fooling ourselves that things will be ok have taken their toll.
I think we may be at the point of no return, we are rapidly heading toward a dystopian society.
Don`t get me wrong, I`m by no means a downer or negative Nelly, I`m 99% happy, out going and love life, I`m just heart-fully disappointed the path our societies are headed.
I can only pray my kids lives and theirs` for generations to come will be tolerable.
