The new Krieger barrel I just put on my M1 is a 1:12 twist.  I picked that twist rate because I shoot 125 grain bullets in 200 yard matches.  If you want a an incredibly accurate short range bullet (out to 300 yards) that is perfect for a 1:12 twist barrel, try the Speer 125 gr TNT.  For a .308, 42 gr H4895 would probably shoot really well.  I load 44.5 gr in the .30-06 for the M1.  And these bullets are a lot cheaper than Hornady or Sierra 168’s.

A .243 Lee Enfield? That would be really cool!

Perhaps start a #METOO movement... seems effective in North America. Maybe #METOO.243LEEENFIELD.

Krieger said they will make me a .303 barrel blank machined to outer contour.  I would need to send them a sample barrel.  The cost was very reasonable, but then I would need to send it off to a gunsmith/machinist to thread it for fitting to the receiver and machine the chamber.  It might be a solution.  It would have to be standard 4 groove rifling.
