| You should really consider reloading being in Alaska. You would get more bang for the $. If you don't go for high pressure loads a typical 303 boxer primed brass will last for as many as 10 reloads or more. |

Not sure what ammunition is available in Alaska; but if you can find PPU (Prvi Partizan) .303 174 grain is very good. They also do a 180 grain hunting load. It's good stuff and the brass is excellent for reloading. It's worth getting in to reloading if you intend shooting a lot. I use PPU to test a new rifle, as it's a good benchmark. Then I try and improve with my reloads. However it's not that easy to improve on the PPU! ------------- It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice! |

| There’s one spot that offers Prvi here but they’ve been out for awhile. I’ve got most of the components to load but it’s been a LONG time gathering these materials. I’ve got a buddy who’s willing to help me get started. Right now, my only option is S&B which I can find, though, I’ve heard it’s not the best. Thoughts on S&B? |

S&B is OK to shoot; but the cases are not great for reloading. They tend to split easily after a couple of loads; where as the PPU can last probably 5 times longer. How you resize the cases will have an effect on the longevity of the brass as well. ------------- It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice! |

| okay, that’s why I asked - I’d heard something about the S&B that wasn’t great. As long as I can still plink, I’ve got PLENTY of good brass for reloading - just not all the components yet. I’ll use the S&B that’s available for now and save the good brass for reloading. Thanks again for the input. |

| question, most of the ammo i have found here in Fairbanks, the new PPU is running about 17.29(Iron & Wood) a box, much cheaper than the old click bang stuff, and it has a good bevels so good for reloading |

PPU is great brass. I’m tracking the number of reloads on one of my 50 round batches, at 15 reloads and still going strong. Tight headspace and neck sizing with the Lee collet die is the trick. Try to find PPU ammo and keep the brass for reloading.
