I have a really interesting 1941 MkIII with cut-off.  I want to replace a couple of aftermarket items, specifically:
1) Nose cap piling swivel and screw (centered piling swivel, not the off center version)
2) Front band screw - current version is an aftermarket and oversized.

Let me know what you have an how much shipped to Chicago.
Thanks for any assistance.

Howdy y’all;
Question first if I may 🤔
What make of Mklll (English or Lithgow etc)
I’m thinking a Lithgow B S/N by your post description?
Prolly have an original small head (flush type) nose cap screw or two stashed away.
Cheer’s.

You are correct, it is a 1941 lithgow No1 MkIII.  Here are a couple of photo's which may assist. I don't know anything with certainty, but I believe the following:
1) Front piling swivel is incorrect (should be centered, not offset) and looks aftermarket
1a) I believe the bayonet lug screw is correct but your thoughts?
1b) Swivel screw - not sure if correct
2) Front band screw appears to be direct from the Ace hardware parts bin - i didn't show additional photos but it doesn't screw all the way and has about 1/16 inch gap.
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Howdy again;

Ok to start off;

Your rear Nose Band screw looks correct to me.
The stacking swivel screw looks to be sitting proud & should counter sink more......have one spare swivel screw.

Your front band sling swivel needs to be reversed the screws enter from the left side.Your sling swivel screw head looks definitely too large to counter sink into the sitting as you mentioned.
As mentioned above I only as of now have one spare swivel attachment screw but will check again shortly.
Cheer’s.

OK, I'm thinking of the wrong screw.
I'm thinking of the transverse one which had two head sizes!
Now maybe I'm looking for one two?

If the screw fitted is incorrect; better check that the thread is not damaged before fitting a good one.

if its a 41 no 4 the proper one is the centered one but the no 1 might well have had the offset yet

I am pretty sure if the sling swivels are offset so would the piling swivel as well all my lithgows have offset swivels on them either marked up MA , BA, OA. I did recently pick up a A marked star swivel for my 1913 Lithgow which completes its restoration back to factory spec and still sighted for mk v6 ammo.
Aussie I’m me if you need some parts I have Aussie specific parts .

OK I read more carefully.  Thanks for the input and advice.  The closer I look I believe the front band screw (the one screwed from the wrong side) is the same size as the nose cap screw - I'll be careful Zed and hope the threads on the band aren't ruined.

The front swivel screw does sit proud compared to others I have, so hopefully it is not also oversize, and maybe I need two screws.

I was referencing Skennertons book "Australian SMLE variations" and it suggests the centered piling swivel was used from 1923 and made obsolete Sept. 1941.  Regardless of it's shape, the one on my rifle simply looks aftermarket, and it is leaving a scratch in the wood!

PM on the way smerdon - thank you.
