I received a repo leather rifle sling that uses "laces" through holes to secure instead of brass screwable "rivets". Can anyone instruct me how to install? Thanks!

If you want to use the laces I don't have a clear answer, but if you want brass screw rivets nuts they are available through Amazon.

Glad I could help.
Supposedly they slipped a lot & the tactic was to jam a round or two into the loop/keeper to "tighten them up" How exactly I don't know!

The original issue leather slings are common here in New Zealand , often find them on old sporter 303's
I think hunters liked them more than the old webbing ones?  often they are in good condition considering many are up to 100 years old.

Ah , its probably because we are a bit old fashioned down here at the bottom of the world.
We work on "the if it ain't broken, why fix / change it"   philosophy.
boils down to the " if it was ok for Grandad at Gallipoli, then it will work for me still ".
No wonder we hung onto so many lee Enfield's down here out of nostalgia.

I put that rifle sling on my No5. Probably not the right person for that style, but I like it!

The leather sling was still being produced and issued with the No1 Mk3* in Australia right into World War II. They still pop up from time to time. I have a brand new one with maker mark B&C and D arrow D issue mark dated 1942. Unfortunately it will stay brand new. The leather slider loop has shrunk over time and it's near impossible to fit the sling back through it. It's a nice piece to have with my as new 1945 Lithgow though. Smile
