I have seen a #1/MK3 rifle that was purported to have been used by the German army. To anyone's knowledge here, is there any evidence for this? German markings stamped onto the rifle? Thx.

I have seen a No1 Mk3 with German police marking from the early post war time.

Is the marking like a very small crest? The rifle I have seen has a small crest and a serial type# of 101-H stamped beside the small crest. The stamping is so small a magnifying lens is needed.

There was a period right after the end of the war where German paramilitary police "Gendarmerie" were issued them as everything had been surrendered. Is that what you're thinking of?

german use after the war by police - the brit rifles were used by a lot of police forces after the war and many countries as secondary military service
