Idle hands tend to get into mischief. Noting that I need to order more bullets from Graf, I saw a partial box of old Hornady 3090 projectiles. These are 220 gr. RNSPs in nominal .308 diameter. I decided to take a chance. I loaded 20 rounds in thrice fired R-P brass. Using 43 grs. of IMR 4350 with W/W LRP. I settled on an OAL of 3.085". Now my range is nothing to write home about, being but 55 yds to my backstop. And I know, 55 yds is quite short. But still, on my Birchwood Casey reflective targets I was getting a 2" group clusteting the center with 70 yr. old eyes w/o glasses. The charge is 3 grs under what I see Ken Waters recommended w/ (presumedly) .311/215s. Recoil was something fierce. I know I'll feel it in the morning. I am thinking that the parallel sides of this long bullet is what held my shots close. I found that my best work is with the peep sight set at the 200 yd marking on my matching '43 Maltby.  Am thinking to experiment on the booming wild pig population here on my place in Central Florida, where most shots are 50 yds.

Hey, zero for what you shoot. No problems there.
