Hi, i just bought a Jungle Carbine and i'm wondering which country it is from. It lacks the original ROF (F) marking, it just says No.5 MK1. On the side it says "1945, BD3699". But i think it has all the features of a real No. 5. And the stock says "RET /3", i wonder which unit that is? I hope that you can help me, greetings Thomas     |

Thomas. Your rifle was made at the BSA Shirley factory in England and yes, it is a real No5Mk1. Fazakerley and Birmingham Small Arms were the only two factories making the No5. Welcome to the forum...

congrats on a great rifle you should enjoy , these are a fine shooting rifle in spite of their bad publicity , enjoy this one , as stated above there were only two mgrs. both were productive in these between 44 and 47 although there were not productions of both in that time frame equally , BSA started earlier and i think FAZ ended a little later , not a big deal but it does help when finding the forgeries that seemed to happen , it is easy 6to tell if correct by the lightening cuts and such as well as serial number tacking ,,

Rack number. It was a quick,n dirty check that all rifles were returned too the correct rifle rack. Every rifle had a corresponding rack with a matching number. Yes it has the "Ishy Screw" But not all Ishy screws were fitted in Ishapore, it just began there,
