Did the British army ever issue spare magazines with the #4 mark 1 and #4 mark 2 series rifles?

Each rifle was issued with a magazine but if you lost one or it got damaged, the stores would have them in stock. I have an original box of Fazackerley magazines still in the packing paper.

That must be nice.  I've been looking for a extra Fazakerley magazine just in case I screw this one up by accident. And been having no luck at all.   Where did you find a whole box of Enfield magazines?

The soldiers were supplied with ammunition in charging clips of 5 rounds, so two clips to fill the magazine. It's faster reloading with the clips.
However, if you are wanting to buy some charger clips, be careful as to what type of manufacture they are.
Because there are plenty on the internet that are crap, that don't have the required spring steel to allow smooth loading. I know because I bought a pack! They have a parkerised finish.
Luckily I have a few WW2 examples that work flawlessly, that I use for Service Rifle competition.

I was given a kit bag that my Uncle Morris carried in WWII.

I did find a No4 magazine without a serial number in it.

When I asked about it to my Aunt Corinne. She said Morris just pinched it from some where.

It had like six(6) pairs or socks and his shaving kit as well.

They were part of a parts exchange/sale years ago. They are for future projects of mine as they happen.

the magazine box was intended to stay intact in the rifle - charged from the top , as stated with the chargers , there were no spares issued , only armorer replacements for damaged or defective boxes ,

having said that having a spare is never a bad thing , particularly with these old rifles , good luck in your search for a correct one ,
