I bought my first No.4 MK1 303 15ish years ago I love it. I looked in to some numbers on it a while ago. I was cleaning it after some range time and got curious about some of the number and info on it. I know it's a BSA Shirley build as the number states M31772 it was built in 1944 and apparently refitted in Fazackley in 48 by the /48 on it as well as (F) FTR . I have some other markings I couldn't find any real info on. By the safety lever I have a M1440. Under the barrel I have some I'm guessing us based markings. US CAL ST ALB VT.

US CAL ST ALB VT. is a U.S import stamp.

Yes but who is U.S. CAL? Or is it just a typo.

That whole part is a typo. It probably actually reads "UK CAI".
