What is the correct sling for a Lee Speed Sporting rifle ? The attachments on the rifle are the small steel circles installed on the barrel and the buttstock.

Pictures would help as there were three patterns of commercial Magazine, Lee Enfields made:  Sporting, Trade, and Service Rifle Target model.  Quick question, does your M.L.E. have the Rigby patent stamp on the end cap?

Owner's choice I'd imagine.
Does yours have the center swivel or not?
It would need to have the "dog leash style" fittings to work with the loops.

It’s a Sporting Rifle, one that BSA sold through the Army/Navy store. No center swivel. I’ll get some images up as soon as I can.

Because it just has the studs, you probably want a sling with hook swivels, or one that has “QD” swivels.  I have a Parker-Hale sling with QD swivels but get an error when attempting to attach a photo.

There's a thread on here from a while back where a member got a nice Lee-Speed Sporter & did a period restoration with accessories.
Let me see if I can find it for you.
Yep here you go.

Thanks so much, everyone, for the responses, really appreciate it.
I haven’t taken possession of the rifle yet. Once I have it in hand I’ll do a proper reveal.

I've received the rifle and man it is gorgeous ! I also did a search for a hook type sling and found some on the Westley Richards site. Beautiful of course, also bloody expensive of course ! Guess i'll be looking for a while, but I spent some time searching for the rifle so...
Will post pics as soon as I figure out how to do it here.

that was a fun memory , i dont have one of these rifles but always thought it would be fun - just seeking out the accoutrements would be a hoot ,

I'll keep looking for a period correct style sling and a short magazine (carbine style?) I'm sure there are other bits I can waste my money on if I try ;)

The last Short magazine I saw was on EBay over ten years ago The price was a bit high for me.

Absolutely gorgeous.
I'd get period or high end repros, like then W-R sling. Take your time & as the old saying goes "Don't blunt a 20 dollar knife, skinning a phart for a nickel"
Star
I thought of you at a local gun show recently! One vendor had a beautiful old school leather sheepskin-lined case for a full length rifle & it only needed a bit of minor piping stitching to make it perfect. It was going amazingly cheaply for what it was.
Just keep looking something will turn up eventually

Ha, I love that quote ! Thanks. I do intend to take my time. I’ll be haunting the web mainly in search of treasure. Our local gun shows are mediocre at best lately and almost never have the kind of goodies I’m looking for.
