Australian issued, uncut, hooked quillion, John A. Chapman (J.A.C.) marked Pattern 1907 manufactured in 11 '09 (November 1909).

The bayonet is marked SA and 1569 on one side of the pommel and the sold out of service marking -><- on the other side. There are three "X X X" marks one one of the scales.

The throat of the scabbard is marked 4MD and 12307. The leather is E.F.D. marked, but the throat and tip are marked with the Lithgow star.

The serial numbers do not match, but the 4th Military District is South Australia and are consistent with each other.

It isn't prisitine but a fantastic, honest example of a rare bayonet, British made and Australian issued.

In conferring with a very knowledgeable person, it is a safe belief that this was issued between 1910 and 1911. Most early Australian issued bayonets did travel with the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) to North Africa and Gallipoli, but there is NO way to validate that this bayonet did.

$750 shipped in CONUS. I will consider shipping overseas for actual cost.

I am willing to drive within a couple of hours of Loxley, AL to meet in person.

I accept cash, USPS MO, Zelle and will consider other options.

I wouldn't be selling if I didn't have to and also had little hope of finding a commensurate vintage 4MD / SA issued No 1 Mk III to put it on.

mine is a mole 1910 and resides on a 1915 BSA no1 mkIII marked to 3MD so i understand exactly where you are coming from - i cant part with either as too many sentimental connections even tho i long ago sold off all the rest of my collection save the trainers , got a bit of an attachment to my 22s asa well
