for my birthday my grandkids got me an old guy kit - it included a number of items some good others gags , one of the good things was a new bourbon glass to mix my sweet manhattans in , ive been using it ever since i received it ,

but im having mmore and more issues with my hands , the shooting pains on neuropathy and the joint issues of arthritis , its very pronounced in cold weather here , so im tending to have difficulty picking up and manipulation small items , its not fun , but even some larger sized items are causing problems as well ,

so this glass they gave me - its the same weight and content but is larger diameter than my regular drink glasses i tried it and nearly dropped it numerous times so tonight ive given it up - ill put it in the kitchen where i can if needed use it when they are here , but im going back to my regulars ive not had an issue with them ,

so i feel bad about not using what the grandkids were so thoughtful to give me , its hard these days to find a present for someone like me , i buy what i want and dont tell people what i might need because i dont want them spending their money that they need on me , but hopefully ill have OJ in it some day when we all have breakfast together after they stay over with granny
this getting old chit is just not fun - and - golden years my A$$

On the carnivore diet my arthritis went away.

At time my balance is not great as I greatly damaged my ear drums.

Can Not ride a motorcycle any more. I lean to the right sometimes.

My oldest Granddaughter calls me, " I lean" but I am all right.

Only do it when I wake up.

I use an "old Fashioned" glass.
The cut glass gives a firmer grip & I tuck the pinky under the bottom.

ive also had some issues with balance - never thought it might be caused by my left eardrum damage

I just use a Tupperware glass.

If it falls it does not break.

I do miss the taste of beer and spirits.

The joys of getting old.

I have a very well stocked liquor cabinet.....well stocked because I hardly drink spirits any more.  Some of the bottles were purchased 15 - 20 years ago and are still half full or more.  Like A square I used to enjoy Manhattens and still would.  Wifey liked Pomegranate martinis as did I but when she cut out all alcohol I stopped making them.  I still enjoy the rare glass of Whisky and Rum is always on the menu at Christmas to add to warm Wassail.  I don't drink sodas very often but will have a Rum and diet Dr. Pepper occasionally as I love the Rum/raisin flavor which reminds me of the Rum/raisin ice cream of my youth.  Beer is still semi-regular although some times I'll go a month or more between them. My two favorites are Yuengling Lager and Shiner Bock.  I still love a good, full-bodied red wine with beef and fortunately Texas has the soil and climate to rival the best of Spain's Tempranillo wines and Argentina and France's Malbecs.

The carnivore diet I'm on does help reduce inflamation and my arthritis has subsided a bit. I quit alcohol 14 months ago just because I had had enough, not because of any extenuating circumstances. I dropped 56 pounds in a year and had to buy new clothes, LOL. The money I save not buying alcohol is being spent on ammo reloading supplies.

yes , thats much like my situation except i dont get the pension , i started taking the SS at 65 because it was my full retirement at that time , i dont think ill live long enough to collect that much - i paid in a lot when i could have used that money more wisely but hey they took it - im getting some back ,

if i had waited till 70 i wouldn't have started collecting till after i was covid retired and it would not have been much more than im getting even with colas ,
my lifestyle has not changed in retirement and neither have my spending habits so far - we are a frugal couple for the most part , save before spending on what we spend on then pay cash , i dont carry any credit cards that arent paid in full every month and the two loans we have currently are fully paid off at a moments notice - only have them to maintain credit rating - they are small and i wont extend anything beyond them , at my age i dont need or want any more credit rating
