It's good to see that finally, someone is doing something about the toxic regime in Iran. Although surprising that it's taken so long.

That's a sign of panic, to try and hurt all those you hate before you get wiped out.

One thing is certain, the region will be better off without the medieval religious leaders, financing terrorism and destabilizing. They've been shouting death to America and Israel since 1979, so about time it stopped, and give the chance for real peace in the regional!

I think the likelihood of a "peaceful path forward" isn't in the cards.  There are a lot of moving parts.  A protracted upheaval in Iran's ability to sneak crude oil to China is likely to drive additional mischief.  Until recently, China has been almost entirely reliant on highly discounted "sanctioned oil" from Russia, Venezuela, and Iran.  We have effectively taken two of those sources off the menu for them.  

Keep in mind that Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor was partially driven by Japan being starved of natural resources....primarily oil....due to US embargoes.

With all that said, I think it's better to deal with them now than wait until they are nuclear armed and have ICBM's.

Rocket and drone attacks are, of course another thing and will continue sporadically for probably forever.  All Israel and its allies can do is reduce the ability of radical Muslims to do harm to Israel as threats arise.

As long as Muslims hate Jews more than they love their children violence will continue.

China is purely out to satisfy their need for cheap oil.  They'll buy from whoever.  The only way to stop that flow of oil is to disrupt the transport of same at the source.  It doesn't appear that anyone is targeting Iran's petroleum production or export infrastructure.  I suspect that's probably because it would ensure a failed state would follow which is likely an even worse outcome for everyone.

i think the path is opening up , we need to clear enough of the way without going too far - my take is the clerics need to go and the people need to be the government 

100%.  It's no accident that as countries descend into authoritarian regimes, one of the first things the government goes after are privately held firearms.  Then you wind up in a scenario where only the government and criminals have a means to defend themselves and to relieve you of your liberty, property and potentially your life.

Catapult crackdown in effect as officers tackle antisocial behaviour

A catapult crackdown is in effect across Kent as neighbourhood police officers continue to respond to residents’ concerns about antisocial behaviour.

Constables and Police Community Support Officers have been taking action to tackle the use of catapults to harm people and wildlife or cause criminal damage, by searching anyone suspected of doing so and seizing any items they find. Investigations are also being carried out into possible offences and those found responsible risk being arrested and brought before the courts.

Overall reports of nuisance incidents fell in seven of the county’s 13 policing districts in the year to June 2025 including reductions of 18% in Tunbridge Wells, 10% in Ashford, 9% in Gravesham, 8% in Canterbury and 5% in Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling.

Kent Police is working hard to continue this positive trend and deploying officers to undertake regular patrols in hotspot locations, tackling the types of antisocial behaviour that matter most to local people including the use of catapults to cause criminal damage and harm to wildlife.

‘Since the beginning of June we have received an average of 14 contacts per day that relate to the use or possession of catapults, which sometimes includes multiple reports for the same incident. Whilst this is only around one per district per day, we understand that incidents are likely to be under-reported and are therefore committed to tackling this issue head-on. ‘It is not currently illegal to possess a catapult but if our officers suspect one is being used to commit crime or antisocial behaviour then they will not hesitate to seize and destroy it along with any other items such as ball bearings. They will also make arrests and bring offenders to court if necessary and proportionate. ‘Being visible is the bedrock of our service to the public and we will continue to carry out regular patrols in order to stamp down on this type of unacceptable behaviour.’
