As it was my Step sons 14th birth day the other day I promised him a Hunting /camping trip over night .As it's going to be 41c Saturday I thought it might be a ideal time to head up to the back country of our place over night & belt a few Goats! They tend to come off the high ground & into the valleys due to the heat (no climbing for these old bones thank god ) With Daylight saving it is twilight by about 2000 hrs & cooling down & then we'll hit them again at dawn right on the lip of a National Park which is part of our land ! I'm going to try out the new Long Branch & the lad is going to carry a New .310 cadet i picked up ! Dave ...not looking forward to roughing it over night as his gone soft |

I picked up some 215 grain KKSP bullets for reloading at a gunshow recently, we have about 10 days of hunting season left and I hope to get a deer with the No5 shooting the big boolitz!!

Mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I had my way these days I'd have several hundred Faith full Bearers ! To carry my gear & Rachel Welsh as my Gun bearer !!!!!! I would demand to be carried , In a Howada carried on the shoulders of Faithful doating Shooters who would sing my praises ! On finding a Goat which wished to be released from it's earthly burdens! Ms Welsh, would sight the rifle for me & I would squeeze the trigger with out having to even lift my head from the soft cushions ,it would be resting on! Dave |

I think you mean Raquel Welch Dave. Before you ask "how the hell do I know that" it is amazing what a google search can dig up in seconds. That sounds like quite a scene Dave, and gave me a huge chuckle! Mate !!! What can I say ? Miss Welsh was my calender /pin up Girl in the 60s & did "Orrible things to my hormones (come to think of the Poster I had .....She still does ) As for my faith full followers /Bearers their job would be to drive the Goats towards me! Then if by chance I missed (heaven forbid ) I'd still bag something ! As for the Rifle ? My Boy I would use nothing less than a H&H best grade custom .303 (double of course ) I would employ Tony & Hoadie to be my Game carrying Bearers ! Dressed in Loin Cloths & woolies thongs ! (that's Flip flops to our over seas readers ! ) Cookie would be my Cry to announce my return to Camp .......Imagine a Hilton hotel in the bush ! Dave..... pops another Valium thinking of tomorrow night in a swag again |

Well that was a total waste of time !The Goats are still hugging the high country & apart for a couple of long shots at a couple of mobs ! We didn't achieve much I'm afraid ! I did knock a few off as I say at long range (sights set at 500yrds )But whether it was my shooting or the fact they feel off the side of the Bluff they were on I can't be sure ! All I know is it will be a while longer before I get out after them again unless I get some good info that their coming down ! Dave |

Dave , when I raised goats here on the farm, It allways seemed if ya thaught ya didnt want the goats to go some where thats where they went.
They even figured out how to defet the electric fence! they would rush it all in a line one behind the other and jump through the center only touching the wires and not grounding them selves out.
I had this one X-bred Boer goat that weighed in at 240 Lbs. if he wanted into the Nanny paddock he would just break the 4x4 treated postes off with his head.
He would go down the fence line till he had enough down to walk accross and get the Nannys ..........
