Nice shooting. Regardless of the 5th shot getting away.......I figure what ever that this rifle is pointing at is in a lot of trouble.

What ammo are you using, handloads or factory?

Would you shoot Packistani 50 year old surplus in these rifles? I don't.

  I hand load 174g SMK FMJBT's

MJ11 I think he ment modern factory loads

Why?

They don't replicate the MKVII round so your sights are off at 600 yards by 3'~4'. The 180g Remington is poor at over 100 yards. I make a 100 yard pig round with .311"150g Sierra Game Kings that still smokes  a 120 lb. porker with IMR 4895.

I still own a 10" X 18" rectangle at 600 yards using the sights calibrated to the MK VII bullet.

I have tried the 174g and 150g fmjbt from Privi but they are not as accurate as the Sierra. The cost of the Sierra is the limiting factor so I use the Privi's for 300y or less. IMR 4064 for the big bullet and IMR 4895 for the 100 yard 150g pill

Simple he said factory not surplus

Well then I don't know anything about factory ammo then. I know Remington 180g hnters, Winchester 150g fmj and Privi 174g fmj from what was Yugoslavia.  I know the loads I learned from winning shooters at Bisley. So I'm limited in my background to anything outside my small world. I'm sure there are lots of other options in amunitions I am unaware off. I just followed the what the best guys recomended. The two things I changed was using IMR 4895 when they use RL-15 for  targets out too 300y and RL-22 for 500y to 900y. I use IMR4064 at the long end. For me that's 600y. And not that offten these days with fuel and bullet costs.

If you don't hand load the .303 should be the one round to learn. It will reward you and make you cry the next moment.

Cheers

Just to clarify, what I meant was modern production factory loads like Remington, Winchester, Privi or Sellier. I don't shoot surplus in my No.4 either. I'm trying to get into handloading, just picking up the equipment a piece at a time as budget allows. Whatever ammo you use, it looks like you have an accurate load for your rifle. Nice group.
