Yep, I have decided to use one of my sporterized Enfields with open sights this year for deer season and to only shoot Whitetails.
With the amount of deer, both Whitetail and Mule, here it is not much of a challenge. I only hunt for the meat but by limiting what I hunt and with what it might keep me in the woods for a few hours instead of one or two.
I am even thinking I might use an M91/30 Mosin Nagant for one deer also.

Good idea. Open site sure does increase the challenge for sure. I wish white tail was as easy to come across like you folks.
Good luck.

If you seen the land fall of Hurricane Gustav then you would look at the path of the Eye wall and go inland up to Lake Verret and I am on the South east end of the lake down Bayou Louis canal Which connects to  Himalaya Canal  that passes right to the south of my house at about 300 feet. in a little Settle ment called Lower texas.. all this is about 40 miles from the Gulf as the crow flies....

Took my No.4Mk2 out for the first time in a year last weekend.
Shot right to point of aim with the iron sights at about 80 yards, offhand.
No sighting needed with this rifle.
