Are the barrels of the No. 4 rifles chrome lined? I just got a deal on a No.4 that a guy was selling. The rifle has no stock or furniture, just the barrel, receiver, bolt, magazine & trigger group. It looks to be in very good shape, two groove barrel with a pretty shiny bore. I'm thinking I'll stick it in a composite stock & scope it but before I do I want to refinish the metal.I'm leaning towards parkerizing. If I do, and the bore isn't chromed, I'll need to pick up some stoppers to seal the barrel. Any info you can give would be appreciated.

I have never heard of a chrome lined bore on a No4. Unless it is an aftermarket barrel in which case, I guess it could be but I seriously doubt it.
Sounds like you may have come across a pristine bore.

Never heard of a chromed lined barrel on an enfield but it's a brilliant idea. My lads new Dragunov has a chrome lined barrel makes for easy cleaning and it should last him a lifetime.

I have never heard of a chromed lined factory issued barrel. I'm sure there is a few aftermarket versions out there. Con grats on an excellent find there with that bore in that condition

Well, the guy crayfished on me and backed out of the deal. I'm pretty certain he got a higher offer but he didn't give me a chance match it. Rat!
