Last week most of my work involed laying Baits for Dogs ! Most of this
work was conducted in Gov Land but some overlapped onto Private
Properties which crossed the Suart Highway . I was also told to destroy
any Mature camels I encountered ! As the Calves are worth big money for
the live export Trade ! I was cutting cross country & spotted a
Caravan & 4x4 well & truely off the Highway & stopped to
see if they were lost or in trouble ! THe elderly couple explained they
had camped for the night & were just getting ready to take a couple
of happy snaps of 3 camels that were wandering round ! Of course I
showed the correct amount of Excitment & asked as inocently as I
could ,where are the camels & the nice Couple pointed out where
they'd seen them wandering (Poor Fools ) I thanked them & informed
them that I might just drive over & have a look for myself ! Only
took 15 mins to locate & dispatch said camels with the .303 ! I
then returned & thanked them (the Old Couple) & explained where
they could find the said camels (Minus ears ) 
After the shock they got rather upset (do'nt know why ?????) The
load was a 185 grn cast at 150rds+ in the base of the neck on each
beast! With no follow up shot needed ! Dave |

Yeah there's a tourist season here at the local seaside resort but nobody tells us when its open season on tourists. Most of them comit suicide anyway laying on that beach. Just out of curiosity - what happens to the carcasses ? Do ya leave for the scavengers ?
Normally their picked up & sent off to the Human/Pet food indusry . But in this case it was $60.00 per set of ears ! Purely culling the Older Animals so they could muster any youngens for the Live export trade ! It paid for my fuel if nothing else Dave |
