So, I've been to the range 5 times in the last week, and I went for one drive to see how the logging has changed the face of the mountains where I hunt.  Next will be walking through individual slashes, followed with long nights of cleaning my rifle multiple times.  Why Can't it be Sept 10 already.  I should buy a bow lol

lol, ya amazing how much the hillside changes in the course of a year.  some of my slashes I end up travelling through, thoughout the year.  But the ones way in the back beyond the lakes not soo much and my good do they every change especially once forestry has moved on.

I am a meat hunter and I am always ready for fresh game meat.
Squirrel started August 1st (but the reds are still nursing young so I won't be hunting them until Oct).
Dove and Cottontail/Jackrabbit begin Sept. 1st. I will wait on bunnies until the first freeze.
Turkey (shotgun) starts Sept. 15th.
And Deer in Nov., Dec., and Jan. firearm/muzzleloader.
I am ready!

Wow... costs enough to hunt down there, we only gouge the tourists and I mean GOUGE.  Although I will the Limited Entry Hunt or LEH is a front for money laundering cuz I don't know anyone that every wins a tag for Elk on the Island.

AH Elk..I note Tennessee will be starting a hunt for Elk this year.1st time in 150 years!! Its only one tag, though.Issued through a lottery. But its a start.
We'll be starting limited Elk hunt round my cabin in a couple years. The re-population programme was way more successful than they ever thot.(Now the ministry is having to fork out $$ to farmers for damages to crops etc-& they dont like that)
So...RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!! lol

Checked the less travelled pathes to the north today, and the slashes in around the reprod areas look pretty promising for so nice Blacktails

wish I only had to wait till Sept.10th.   the first time i can take the 303 out for a workout is Oct.3 for speedgoats (pronghorns).  then I have to settle for 2 months fall turkey.  Nov.1st before the battle Brit comes out after the wiley whitetail....I can hardly wait....LOL

Well the good news is we got 4 moose tags again this year for our camp(2 bulls,1 cow,1 calf)but only hafta split it with 1/2 the numbers of last year. The 2 respective camps have split again, back to they're original format.
My deer crew has a deer doe tag for everyone!(theres 9 of us)& we have a bear tag(cause the flamin bears are too numerous & back around my cabin, again!
