Hello and welcome to the forum. I have no experience with the 300 WM, so I don't have a ready answer. The over-all dimension of the 30-06 and the 300WM are the same, did you try the stock magazine?
My big concern is the pressure, since the 300WM runs about 10% hotter than the 30-06. I'd talk to a gunsmith, and still load down from max before trying this.

Tthe M1917 is pretty strong, and has been used as the basis for a number of potent magnum rifles.
I'd still take Ed Hills advice and load down some, it will also last longer and be more pleasant to shoot.

Wow! thanks for the replies!
The stock magazine box is about 1/4 inch too short, and the 300WM follower doesnt fit the stock mag box either. I have been shooting Federal Power Shok 180 gr. i do not have any reloading equipment. Any suggestions? thanks.

That is strange it is short? I looked around and saw that Century Arms used to sell a 300WM conversion 1917, you might contact them to see if they have a source of mags.

I saw a P14 at a gun show that was in 458. I think the pressure is lower than 300 WM though. I don't remember if it was 458 WM or 458 Lott. I think he said it was 458 Lott, which just longer, not higher pressure than 458 WM. I almost bought it. Was a good price for a 458and looked good too.
