There are murmurs on the interwebs that it is looking like Ruger might do a special run of Ruger 1-A single shot rifles in 303!

Prophet River Guns in Canada is trying to organise it with ruger, looks like they will bring some into Australia as well, maybe other parts of the Commonwealth as well.

But the winters coming,

And the snow will cover tracks,

And I'll be watching,

Because I'm hunting you

I ran across a post by a former Ruger employee who'd worked on a project like this years ago. Several Ruger No.! actioned .303 chambered rifles using standard .308 barrels were built for someone who was interested in exploring the accuracy of .308 match bullets at .303 velocity levels. I suppose with a mind towards arranging for the best to be produced in the larger .311 and .312 diameters.
I remember this because they tested the rifles with regular .303 ammo to be sure the larger bullets didn't cause excessive pressures. The pressure increase was around 3K+ about 7-8%. Well within the strength of the action.

I figured they would build some .303 rifles sooner or later since they'd already done the engineering and testing with those tightbore custom jobs.

I'd like to see some other sporter actions in .303, an OU rifle/shotgun combo would be nice, and the replica 95 Winchester in .303 would be historically accurate and more versatile than the '06 or .30-40 versions. The Winchester Highwall clones are another suitable action.
