This comes up because I just tried reloading some of the older(?) "mmy" head-stamped Prvi Partizan brass, (the stuff with the green primer sealant). Usually I reload the newer(?) blue & white box stuff without sealed primers so this lot is new to my reloading experience.

The new stuff runs like a top with zero problems, but I'm having some issues with the older stuff seating primers fully! I tried both cleaning & reaming the pockets but they seem shallower by a slight amount & tighter as well, this doesn't let primers seat below flush like the newer stuff does. The primers also seem tougher to seat, even after uniforming the pockets.

Has anyone else had problems like this with the older stuff? Is this even older? Or am I just seeing some kind of mil-spec run of ammo I haven't encountered before. If it helps clarify any this was with both the 180(?) Gr SP & the 150(?) Gr loads from the factory & both are not FMJ, but hunting soft-point rounds. I don't think its either the primers, nor do I think it is me as some HXP I reloaded at the same time was just fine.

I don't reload, so I don't have firsthand experience, but I have read many times about people saying the same thing about older "nny" brass. I wonder if that older Yugo .303 brass is just a bit shorter on the rim. Have you ever measured and compared the rim thickness vs. the newer? Just spinning my gears a bit LOL

I have reloaded both headstamps and haven't experienced any differance.  The "MMY" is Cyrillic for  PPU and while we are at it HXP is "Eta Chi Rho"  I had to take Greek in school so I might as well make some use of it.

I have to wonder as well if there are certain years of brass that are the issue? You know, like certain years of the Yugo 8mm were not so good and others really amazing. That I do have intimate first hand experience with.

PS:  No idea on the brass buddy.   Set it aside and let me think on it for a while.

Well I did get it at the pool , so there's a change both it & I got wet. Not sure about the "shrinkage" though.Clown
