he!!o from WI.  I came across your site while looking up info about my rifle.  I have a No4 mkI, it's stamped with a manufacture of 1943 and with a "B" above it with an "A" to the side of the year.  I'm not sure if it was actually made at the bathurst factory in Australia like your info says.  It was imported by Century arms so maybe it was just pieced together with a bunch of spare parts.  That would be cool if it was made in australia.  My rifle is completely stock no sporterizing, just the way I like it.  I plan on using it for deer season this year, sometimes it's kind of hard for me to keep the nice modern .270 bolt action at home.  But, these old rifles can definitely still do some work.  I've got some parts coming in the mail to tune it up: a set of different height front sight blades, new magazine spring, new extractor spring, and a pair of stripper clips.  I should be able to get out some time this summer and get it dialed in with a good hunting round.  Also I'm curious if anyone has used prvi 180grn sp ammo for the enfield.  It seems to be the cheapest 180grn hunting round I can find and was thinking of using that or S&B 180grn sp.  I'm not too interested in the domestic ammo it's just too overpriced for me, they need to get control of those prices.  30 bucks for a box of sp, seriously, what a joke.

Thanks,

Glenn

Welcome to the site. 150 grain soft nosed will easily take anything you want to shoot. Stripper clips?? You'll get Hoadied if he sees you using that description, lol they're charger clips!

Privi is actually better than most of the RemChester currently available. If you're thinking of reloading it would be my #1 choice for brass. Better than S&B which has problems for reloaders.
180 Gr Prvi will follow the rear sight's range markings more sclosely than 150 GR once you get a good zero, but unless you're planning on hunting at long range (beyond 2~300 yds) it isn't going to be a factor.

150 Gr Privi is good stuff & perfecty adequate for deer sized game. Id save 180 Gr loade for moose!Star

Haha, sorry "charger clips."  Thanks for the insight on brass.  I'll probably start reloading in a few years once the brass starts to pile up.  I know a lot of people say 150grn for deer.  But, come on I'm american, the bigger the better! 180 or 215 grain give's you something to stick your chest out at deer camp haha. The distances I'm shooting aren't far at all.  I can see 75 yds tops where I hunt.  Hopefully I'll get something this year and post it on this site.

Welcome to the forum

Now there is a procedure for the Faux Pas of calling a Charger a "Stripper Clip"
You must face Fazakerley (Suburb of Liverpool) consume a adult beverage of British origin
such as Gin or Single Malt Scotch  and say Charger three times. Do that and you will have fully atoned. Wink

I may be wrong but I think your rifle is a Maltby with those markings. The Austrailians didn't make any No4s just the Legendary No1 Mk III

Doesn't matter what the army called it! If Hoadie says it's a CHARGER, it's a CHARGER! (I learned the hard way, too). Welcome to the obsession.Beer
