My No1 MkIII is a beater all matching but still a beater with a worn out bore.  I don't shoot it any more but that is about to change. I was thinking about getting another 22LR and then I discovered that Numrich has these in stock.

Interesting idea! The purists will probably not thinks so, though. Is this reversible?

Most the .22LR Trainers are made out of worn out .303's so you are just continuing the tradition! The kit looks good, and you can keep your original bolt in case a good .303 barrel turns up one day. I was shooting my Lithgow No2 mk4* this weekend. Great fun on the 50 metre range. It gets a lot of interest from other shooters too. I've been trying out some more ammo. It seems to hold the 9's and 10's if I do my bit! You will enjoy it for sure.

Range report
It took a bit of breaking in but functioned rather well.
Only had some Polish surplus shorts and CCI std vel LR
The shorts were one ragged hole at 25 yards the LRs about 1" and shooting a bit to the left
At 50 Yards it was shooting well but about 6" high and  3" to the left.
I drifted the front sight when I got home and next time out I'll see how it does at 100 yards
My nose cap is one of those you have to remove to drft the front sight blade, mild PITA I say.
Oh neat thing there was another fellow  shooting a SMLE at the range and I brought my No5 as well.  I learned that it does NOT care for boatails BTW

That should need about 0,032" drift to correct that 3" pull to the left at 50 yards, and 0,064" drop on the elevation. Personally I would get it zeroed at the 50 yard mark before taking it to the 100 yards; then you've only got the elevation to worry about. It will be interesting to see how it beds in and what ammo it likes best! keep us posted. It's nice to be able to put 50 rounds through a Lee Enfield without getting a sore shoulder and empty wallet!

Oh it is 6" high on the lowest sight setting.  My normal range is very close to home a 10 min drive and goes to 200 yards.

Then see if you can find a front blade with the extra 60 thou to bring it back up.
My No2 mk4* needs around 250 yards on the rear sight at 50 metres, as the graduations are for the .303 round.

I found a slightly higher SMLE front sight in "The Box" and got it zero'd.  It is a more or less right for 50 meters at the 100 yard setting and  dead on at 100 yards with the 200 yard setting.  It benched 1.5" at 50 yards and 3" at 100.  I shot it prone for score on a SR-1 target and got 75/100 and a 82/100. Mostly I (and everybody else at the range) shot offhand at the 50 meter gong. Tack driver no, but really a  fun gun to shoot.

Excellent! glad to hear you've got it tuned in nicely. I shoot the .22's nearly every weekend. They really are a lot of fun. But also our club only has a 50 metre range so the .303 is wasted on it really. It's a 2 hour drive each way for a 200 metre range, which limits the opportunities. On a C50 target at 50 metres; the SMLE No2mkIV* will generally shoot  90-93/100  from prone position and the No8's are a bit better around 95-98/100. Although I am tempted to use the SMLE in competition just because you don't see them much over here. I need to look at the trigger release though, as it is not as nice as the No8, and I think it is causing a few errors on my part.

I recall shooting .22 converted No. 1's years ago.  My question is would these rifles, once converted be redesignated?
