I've been thinking, and I know that's a rarity for me to tax my poor overworked brain cell but here is what I have been thinking about regarding this forum. Why not add a section for photos and videos? The photos and videos would not necessarily have to be just of Enfield Rifles but could include general wildlife photos and videos as well as "tutorial" videos of things like Home loading, ways to improve your accuracy, hints and tips on fieldcraft and  many things like that, we could all maybe help each other out more than we imaqgine in that way.
To me that is the one thing missing from this forum, a Members Photo and Video section and I'm sure that by adding one (If it were practical and viable) it would help to make this forum even better than it is at the moment!
Now it's over to the moderators but other members might like to add their thoughts and opinions to this suggestion.

i prefer folks adding the enfield  stuff to the regular threads where they pertain but thats because they add so much to the text of most posts ,

however im not opposed to this idea for -

" ...could include general wildlife photos and videos as well as "tutorial" videos of things like Home loading, ways to improve your accuracy, hints and tips on fieldcraft and  many things like that, ..."

actually im on board for this , might get more folks into photo posting and help me learn to take better photos ...

I think this is something for Eric to look at.
It might strain the bandwidth & storage capacity of the system which Eric runs & for the most part funds for us.

Not sayoing its a bad idea, but we need to let him decide if out little corner can handle the increase in data.

ahh - should we be deleting photos from older posts ? to reduce volume in the bandwidth & storage ? i never thought much about that since we get fewer photos than i would like , when one uses the Quote option and repeats a photo does that eat up space ? can we block the repeat photos ?

IIRC as long as the image is linked the usage is fairly minimal. But inserting an image takes up way more room.

ok , does linked mean like my photos from photobucket ? and are re-quoted photos using the "quote" option in the post frames inserted or linked ?  are the photos stored on site system here inserted or linked ?

Stored on the forum is a full copy of the original, actually stored on here. A 3Mb file takes up 3Mb of the system's storage capacity & bandwidth.

Linked is where you put the text from a file store like "Photobucket", or "TinyPic" & enclose it in the URL or IMG tags.

Linked should just be a placeholder to the actual file elsewhere. Memory usage is basically a short line of text & a couple of "tags" telling the system what & where the actual files is tored. The hosting site (PB or TinyPic) takes the system "hit" for the big file being referred to.

I think the copied quote just links back to the image being quoted. If that's correct it would depend on the method of posting for the original maybe?
