I'm just entering into the enfield arena with a No4 Mk 1 dated 1942.  I've had it for a while but have never shot it. Looks like it's a CAI import. Finding ammo locally has always been a problem.  I've picked up some ammo on the internet recently and am hoping to pick up a few different enfield models as I learn more about them.

Try local gun shows. There is usually someone selling the blue & white PPU stuff at them & its good reloadable stuff too.

I agree!
Reloading IS the answer.
It can be inexpensive safe & even fun.

I find it quite relaxing however my son recons I'm OCD because I check everything and then check again. His idea is chuck the powder in the case slap a bullet in and go shooting, god alone knows how he'll go on when I finally snuff it and he tries it his way. I just hope he doesn't blow the action or barrel on 1 of my rifles Ouch. I'll have to come back and haunt the silly sod if he does.

Just a thought to someone picking up random MilSurp ammo.
ALL British Mk7 ammo is corrosive. Some other countries may not be but I seriously advise cleaning for corrosive if in any doubt.
Its not hard or rocket science but it does need to be done "before the sun goes down" every time you shoot.
