I have the same (unissued/new) canteen & sling(actually-I have 2 slings) Have the helmet netting, too. Hardly a "kit" tho ------------- Loose wimmen tightened here |

Hi Chaps, Glad you found the displays of interest. Longbow, to answer your question: With the exception of the L1A1 Rifle with attached PVS-2 Night Sight and the Galilean sight on the first S.M.L.E., I have had the rifles, their chests and immediate fittings for many years. In fact, their acquisition dates from the time when few apart from myself had any interest in such things. I paid accordingly! The G.S. Telescope, No.2 Binoculars and Denison Smock I inherited from my father who was a sniping instructor with the Royal Marines during the Second World War. Everything else I have acquired over the past 12 years or so from various sources including dealers, flea markets, other collectors and the internet. Terry |

Zed, have never tried out the S.M.L.E. with the Galilean sight - too damn crude. The British must have been really desperate to seriously use such things! Many years ago I shot the .S.M.L.E. with Periscopic Prism and managed to get several shots on the target at 300m ! I remember being rather disappointed since at that stage I had bought it as a shooter. Both the L42A1 and No.4 Mk.I (T) are extremely accurate and I occasionally shoot them. However, I'm not a No.32 fan and generally use my Enforcer with its Pecar sight which I far prefer. I have also shot the L1A1 SLR competitively, but using either its iron sights or a S.U.I.T. Even though it is in working order, I have never tried out the PVS-2 Night Sight - no range open at night! Terry |
