This is the last addition from the collection I was buying up. In total I got 2 No.5's, a No.1 MKV, a UF55 No.5, a Mas 36, and a MAS 36/51.. Plus a first option on items from his father in laws collection.. Considering where I am located now I am guessing they all will be CAI imports and could be some interesting items This No.5 isn't as nice as the other one.. the forearm crack is the issue.. The #'s match except the magazine. Could not get a good picture of the bolt but it does match (took like 20 some pics). Need to decide what to do with it.. I may strip this one down and fix the crack and refinish the stock unless there some some oddity about it that it would be better to leave it in original condition. I have the new Enfield book on the way but no good reference in my hand yet...well I have you all and I do greatly appreciate any insight and comments that you all give!! You have gotten some nice rifles there. This one does have a bit of a plus being a late '44 build. That year goes for really crazy prices sometimes simply because they are sought after. I would not hesitate to fix that crack but take a more in-depth look to make sure that's the only damage to the fore-end. Overall it's still fairly nice. |

Yep I did... Took me a lot of d**kering and trading other rifles and handguns. Even had to go and buy a gun to get the whole lot. Now he is saying his father in law may have some neat ones stashed.. Considering I am by St. Albans Vt and a lot of old stuff around here all came from CAI in town there may be some interstesting finds. I did trade the M47c already. That went along with my 1944 #4 that I got down in SC, and a MAS36 that came in the collection.. Picked up a 1895 '94 Winchester(clean), a sported 1903 Springfield, and a NIB Teddy Roosevelt Winchester 94 as well. The guy I traded those for has a custom built 50 cal based off a Mauser action that has my interest. That one would be just for sh*ts and giggles... |
