Here is a picture of my first Lee Enfield. It is a Maltby No 4 Mk 1/2 Dated 1943. It was sporterized like this when I "acquired" it. The guy wanted $20 for it but changed his mind when his toilet plugged and he needed a plunger. I went and bought him one and a case of beer with the leftover money. He threw in a model 39 Cooey 22. The scope base was added by me. I have shot several deer with it and my sons also used it until they got their own rifles. evenguy stole my thunder here - the cooey was worth more than you paid the enfield is a bonus - a genuine WWII rifle converter to mk2 is a great find , the fact that it is sported looses some of us but i know the mk2 conversions are great shooters . it should serve well as a hunting rifle i am a cooey fan and would love to see the photos if you can post them ,

That "purchase" was made back in 1980. Took awhile for me to get going. Now I have 4 Lee Enfields and 5 P 14's and 1 P 17. As for Cooey's I have 10 or 11 22's depending on how you look at it. My 64 B says Winchester-Cooey on it, so it was made after Winchester bought them out. Also have a couple of Cooey shotguns. | i dont yet have a winchester-cooey , but i might be tempted - im a 22cal collector , mostly older traditionals , oddeties and trainers |

The 64 B is still sold today as a 64 G I believe. Think it is a Savage. Not sure anymore who sells them. they are semi-auto. Not super accurate. That was the first gun I bought for myself when I sold my 4 H steer. Bought it at a MacCleods store. The Winchester model 600 used in the movie Shooter is identical to a Cooey model 60.
