Hoadie? Is that you? We hadn't heard from you and your sunny disposition for a while! I was beginning to think you had gone into hibernation! It was a nice 4 pointer. Small rack, we call basket bucks. As far as pictures, my flip top cell phone camera is broke, and even if I did have pic's, the chance of me figuring out how to post them are slim to none. We have have one more tag to fill so we:re going out today. I'll be using my cammo'd, bobbed "Rescue Gun" (sorry for the term "gun", Hoadie, but it just fits the rifle!) shooting 180 gr ProHunters.

Good job Honky! Re gun and rifle; Calling a rifle a gun, doesn't bother me half as much as calling a Smoothbore a rifle!!

I do not see or shoot bucks many in North Carolina.
No matter how long you cook horns, you still can not eat them.

Very true, but they do make good handles for dragging it out of the bush!

My Scottish Father-in-law uses the as back scratchers.
I have a set I use as rattlers for hunting.
My 30 pound cat has single one he drags around the house and chews on.

Very nice indeed! Are those what they call blacktail deer? Also, that doesn't look like an Enfield you're cradling!

I'm pretty happy as we've had only a bucks only season for several years and I hadn't bagged an animal for quite a while. I forgot to mention, I first saw this buck, another buck and four does about 400 yds away in the field. My buck and a bigger buck started scrapping! It's only the second time I've seen this! Anyway, it didn't last long and my buck lost. He started heading towards me. I waited till he was in my wheelhouse. Bad day for this guy...

Hoadie. Had his tenderloins (marinated in Italian Zesty dressing for 4 hours) then wrapped in bacon done on a charcoal grill to share with buddies while we cut and wrapped the rest of him. Yummy! To be true, I honour all game I kill. I try to recycle. I put a big piece of back fat in my bird feeder. Birds love it! The carcass we take back out to the field... then wait for the coyotes.

My buddy came from Blighty on the 8th. We went to cabin on 9th. Started to snow just north of Toronto. Didn't stop for the duration.Snow was so deep, the ATVs stayed in the garage. We saw lots of tracks in the snow. Game cameras showed lots of deer (1 10 point & 1 8 point) lots of does...but they were only at night!! . The 13th it was -20C. Driveway(450 meteres downhill) turned to ice w/a layer of snow on top. We moved the lighter vehicles to upper lot for parking early..but when I went to leave on 17th - I was pulling the trailer. Got 1/3 way up & ice took over. Trying to go forward I managed to keep evrything straight for a bit, as I slid backwards, gathering momentum downhill. Finally it jacknifed badly.(Thought trailer was going to roll) Guess I was lucky with only $2,500 damage. ...& NO G/D VENISON!!

I've been in a similar situation as you, Hoadie. It gets scary and as you experienced, expensive as well. I'm glad you made it out alive and well.

The snowmobile was left behind for us. We used it & the ski-boose to shuttle folks & equip up & down the drive. I thought it would have chewed up the is somewat..it didn't. When I saw the guys slipping & falling all over it, I figgered I'd be in a bit of trouble.

Not an Enfield but a T/C Venture 30:06 with Vortex Viper 3-9x40 scope. Deadly accurate and great for those very long shots. I always bring an Enfield with me but it was in the truck.
