last night i bought a P-14 bayonet at a auction hoise auction, thinking that it was the correct bayonet for my 1909 SMLE No 1***. Found out after getting home that it isn’t what I thought it was.
The good part is this bayonet is in great shape, shows some mild marks of sharpening, is a Remington 1913 with all hilt markings on both sides clearly visible. The grips are correct with two cuts up and down in the wood, and the release knob actuates fine.
The sheath is in great shape as well, no cracks in the leather, the steel tip and upper are upright, altho it does show it’s age.
I would keep it, however what I would really want is a pattern 1907 Wilkenson or similar. I would be glad to trake even up if some one would want to!
Photos are uploaed to this server, however i can’t seem to get them here on a post. I am pretty new to this forum, and perhaps I am just not doing something correctly. Links below to the pics on this server. I’ll be glad to send an interested person photos directly, just PM me.
