im not sure exactly why[i thought i might be getting a T99 japanese rifle -so did a preemptive strike ?] but i got this very nice T30 , im posting the photos to show the similarity to the P1907 with hooked quillon
this is what i recieved
    and this is the comparison , side-by-side with my 1910 mole P1907 hookie
   its a kokura arsenal and a match to the rifle i may still have a chance at - or i may sell the other fellow the bayo to go with his rifle

I am new to the joys of bayonet buying so when I was having a look around the gun show for a P'07 bayonet I almost mistook one of those Jap bayonets for a P'07. I guess it is an easy thing for a beginner to do. |

ah , yes it could have been that way , but i think perhaps the other ? to quote from the book "british& commonwealth bayonets" as they phrased it better than i could , not being an author and all :>} , 'the 1906-7 trials japanese pattern bayonet is identical to the patt. 1907 sword bayonet , except perhaps for the markings and minor dimensional differances . there is no doubt as to where the inspiration for the Pattern 1907 bayonet came from, the Type 30 Arisaka bayonet , and so the trials "japanese pattern" was judged to be the most suitable .'
the similarity is no coincidence it was purposefull , it would be quite easy as a novice to mistake - short of the markings , but if you find a pattern 1907 with hooked quillon intact [first grab it and dont let go] and should the price be in the $50-100 normaly found on japanese bayonets - pay quickly and run like hell
similarly the pattern 1913 started as a revised clone of the p1907 with hooked quillon [if you find one of these grab it as well - sell it to me - ive never laid eyes on a real one outside a book photo] it will probably have the smooth grip scales as the two grooves were a development when the confusion in the field became a concern

I just got a no#9 bayo. in yesterday along with with 3 Romainian AK Bayos also. now i have to find a sheath for the No#9 Bayo. it sure looks small when you have it in your hand and can see it for real. I got it on one of the No#4 MK I for the time . since it fits realy great.
This stuff came in with a shipment of stuff for my Gun store, while i,m waiting on my FFL i,m ordering little tid bits of things that i think will sell in the store. Like bore lights ,oil cans , Bayos, and Ammo. just the stuff that i can buy with out the license. still got some work to do on the room so since its raining today, I might just go work on it.
Hope it doesnt rain tomorrow! We are having Megans Birthday Party and for her party Im Boiling 4 bags of crawfish, always seems to end up like that for Megans Birthday party every year she wants Crawfish , Oh well at least i like them and have fun Boiling them, Its a wonder Boogie hasnt caught on to what Megan does. because that boy can eat some crawfish. and man does he go crazy for Lobster! Espetialy if I cook them like we do Crawfish. For the scabbard for the No.9/No.5/No.7 Bayonet, check out a company called "International Military Antiques" (aka "IMA-USA". Last time I was on their site they did have scabbards for sale seperate from the bayonet.

Thanks TomCatPC, I know of this company and have thought of buying from them. but never had the money by the end of each buying spree.
that Safety Bonus I got for 3 quarters of last year, was $426.19 after the taxes all i had left was$278.09 man they hit me hard.
You would think i would get some thing back at the end of the year, but this year I had to send an extra $1600.00 more. well like My Step Dad used to say to me. Get off your A#! boy and get a job! Millions on wealfare depend on you!

| I have one (P13) trials bayonet that I brought back from Panama Operation Just Cause in 1990 and still have the orders allowing me to keep it as a souvenier. Ofcourse a young Army E-4 at the time, I picked a cool looking bayonet out of the locker full of bayonets confiscated from Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega at the time, and had no idea these were the "Holy Grail" of bayonets. I'm not sure how much it's worth, but have seen only one sell online, and an Austrailian paid about $3500. |
