I have no 1 mk 4 Lee Enfield with a 21 inch 2 groove barrel. My loads with South African propellant powder S355 are as follows.
Load no 1:   40.5 grain  S355 South African powder behind a 180 grain Sierra Pro Hunter bullet , Large Rifle Magnum primer , PMP case and overall cartridge length  78mm.  Group at 100 meter was 1.25 inch and at 200 meter 1.5 inch. Average velocity is 2397 fps.  No sign of high pressure on case or primer.
Load no 2 : 41.5 grain S355 South African powder behind a 180 grain Sierra Pro Hunter bullet , Large Rifle Magnum primer , PMP case and overall cartridge length 78 mm. Group at 100 meter was 1.0 inch and at 200 meter 1.5 inch. Average velocity is 2472 fps and again no sign of high pressure on the case or primer.
This is super for me and I suggest you start at lower loads and work up slowly to my velocities.

Hi and welcome.
Any idea about what that SA powder could be related to?? I mean, what could it be similar to by Hodgdon or IMR or Alliant??
Cheers

Good Morning Philtno,
According to a South African site S355 is nearest similar to Norma 203B . However the Norma is somewhat slower. It is wise to start about 5% lower and work it up.
Somchem suggests 37.8 gr S355 start load for the 180gr Sierra Pro Hunter  +- 2150 fps
42.0 gr S355 max load for 180 gr Sierra Pro Hunter +- 2450 fps
These are for the .303 British Rifle.
Hope it will help.
Regards
Sakkie
