So, I'm still in the 'getting everything together' stage, and was going through the eBay listings for interesting Enfield bits that won't need a second mortgage.

One of the listings is for a quantity of bullets, some 125gr and (here's the interesting part) some .32-20 bullets (jacketed flat points) that were resized to .311! I trot over to the Midway website to find Speer 175gr Flat Base spitzers in .323 diameter.

Some Enfields like the boat tails that are readily available and some don't. I don't yet know if my No4 will shoot them accurately, and am looking around for flat based alternatives.

Does anyone have any experience with resizing jacketed bullets?
And does one do this in one step, or should I go from .323 to .318 to the final size?

As well, I have yet to slug the barrel, so I still don't know exactly what the bore size is, but this would allow me to produce .311-.314 diameters, depending on what the rifle wants.

After the Midway site, I came here to see if there was anything on this, and along the way I forgot some of the prices, but my impression was that the same weight bullet in .311 costs more than essentially the same thing in .323, which is (totally guessing here) probably that the 8mm is more popular and is therefore a bit less, since the company will make its' money through a greater volume of sales.

I'm off to Google "resizing jacketed bullets" in order to see what's out there....

Golden West Brass has .311 bullets in 123 and 150gr weights. I have yet to try any but there have been good reports from others on the 'net, and their prices are very low.

Do not .I repeat ....DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESIZE JACKETED BULLETS. 323-318 dia bullets are designed for the 8mm. look for 311-314dia bullets for the .303

Exactly the sage advice I was looking for. Idea dismissed.
