How much front to back trigger play is normal for a Ross MkII rifle?

I honestly don’t know, but there is quite a bit of play on my mkII ross.
I think that the trigger on them is a bit loser. The mkIII ross rifle that I have has about the same distance of back and forth play as the mkII but it is so stiff that I don’t really noticed.
The Lee Enfield is to the Canadian north what the Winchester repeater was to the American west.   Cal Bablitz

I noticed my rifles trigger can move forward about 3/8". I removed the trigger assembly and threw it in my ultrasound cleaner  as it was very dirty and the reassembled and lubed it.
The captured larger spring almost seems to need a smaller spring inside of it to place a little holding force onto the front of the trigger to hold it in place?
