I have three very accurate and safe reloads for our 7.62x51mm NATO chambered Enfield brethren.
All three loads use the 168grn bullet. Be it the Hornady BTHP, the Sierra HPBT, or the Sierra TMK. All cases are trimmed to 1.99" +- .001" and all C.O.L. has been set to 2.755" to help in keeping chamber pressures to a bare minimum. Primers used are both the WLRM and the GM215M from Winchester and Federal respectively. The powders i have chosen to use show up on the burn rate chart very close to each other and show very similar muzzle velocities as well and those two powders are the Norma 202 and the IMR4064. (All loads were chronographed six feet from the muzzle of the rifle.) The first load is simply the base minimum of 40.0grns of N202 with the Sierra Matchking. This load generates muzzle velocities at just over 2500 fps. The second load uses 41.7grns of IMR4064 with either the Hornady HPBT or the Sierra HPBT. The MV for this round is just under 2600 fps. The third and most accurate load uses 41.7grns of N202 and the Federal GM215M primers. All three bullets described were used and all three are very good performers. Muzzle velocities for this load averaged 2625 fps. According to various reloading data the chamber pressure generated using the IMR4064 is 43,900 psi on the Piezo Scale. The Norma powder generates just under 39,900 psi using the Piezo Scale. |

he!!o Goosic,
thanks for the info ! That looks promising.. This Norma 202 powder seems to cause a really safe pressure.. ![]() May I ask - which rifle do you use with this loads ? Or which rifles ?.. . ![]() Greetings

Very nice rifles you have. I cannot afford those so I had to make my own.
The first photo from top to bottom: No4Mk1/2 with a 2A1 7.62mm Ishapore barrel No5Mk1 with a 2A1 7.62mm Ishapore barrel and Sterling Magazine No4Mk1/2 with a 2A1 7.62mm Ishapore barrel Second photo is a recent homebuild. It is a No4Mk1* with a new No4 contoured 7.62mm barrel and a Numrich Gun Parts reproduction No32Mk1 scope assembly. Still doing a test and tune with this one. The 20 shot group in the third photo was done at 200 yards using the 41.7grns of N202 with a 168grn HPBT from Sierra. 2 MOA on target...

There are - or have been, better said - quite a lot of Enfields resp. Lee-Enfields types. Some pictures give us a kind of overview. I like this option very much
